Komatsu Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Komatsu") (President and CEO: Kokawa Kiyoshi) announced that as of February 2024, the number of Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) at Komatsu Mines has exceeded 700. This includes over 100 980E-ATs. The 980E-AT is currently a super large dump truck in the world, capable of carrying over 400 tons of handling capacity.
Since Komatsu introduced AHS for commercial use in the industry in 2008, a total of 700 units have been imported from 23 mines in 5 countries around the world, with a cumulative total handling capacity of 7.5 billion tons by the end of February 2024. The cumulative 700th unit started operating in February 2024 at Glen Core's Lomas Bayas copper mine (Chile). This mine will be the eighth mine in Chile to introduce Komatsu AHS
Since its commercial launch in 2008, Komatsu's AHS has accumulated operational performance in mining sites with different operating environments, and its safety and production efficiency have received high praise from large resource companies around the world. While dealing with various mines in different terrains and weather conditions, dump trucks for manned operations have achieved high safety. In addition, it also provides great value to customers from the perspective of reducing environmental loads. Komatsu positions AHS as one of the important solutions to improve the mine safety pursued by customers and contribute to achieving GHG emissions reduction, continuing to contribute to further improving the safety, productivity, and environmental aspects of customer sites.
