On June 30th, the ultra large diameter slurry balance shield tunneling machine "Qihang" (diameter 14.25 meters) jointly developed by China Railway Fourth Bureau and China Railway Equipment passed acceptance and was successfully put into production. It will be used for tunnel construction in the third work area of the front 5 section of the Hangzhou Airport high-speed railway station.

The Qihang slurry balance shield machine has a total length of about 130 meters and an excavation diameter of 14.25 meters. It will be used for the construction of the tunnel from Xiaoshan Airport Station to the east side of the intersection of Kanhong Road and Qianhang Road, which is constructed by China Railway Fourth Bureau. The shield construction section of the tunnel is 2675.05 meters long and the maximum burial depth is about 24.33 meters. During the construction period, the shield tunneling will pass through the silt layer, muddy clay layer, etc. for a long distance, and pass through multiple ground buildings such as the airport customs. It will also pass through numerous risk sources such as Hangzhou Metro Line 7, Airport Tunnel 3, and elevated bridges. The overall construction difficulty of the project is high, and high requirements are placed on equipment stability.
The "Qihang" shield tunneling machine has the characteristics of large diameter, large thrust, large torque, and high intelligence. It will be assembled in July, debugged and launched in September. At that time, multiple intelligent systems such as "intelligent perception, intelligent decision-making, intelligent execution, and intelligent control" will be adopted to ensure the safe and controllable construction of the shield tunnel, and to ensure the efficient and steady progress of the Hangzhou Airport high-speed railway project.
It is reported that as an important project in the "Yangtze River Delta on the track", the Hangzhou Airport High speed Railway Project is the first high-speed railway project in Zhejiang Province to cross the Qiantang River in the form of a tunnel, and also the first high-speed railway project in Zhejiang Province to cross the airport in the form of a tunnel. After the project is completed, it will achieve air rail intermodal transportation, connecting the airport, urban rail, and expressway, forming a multi-level rail transit. It not only shortens the spatial and temporal distance between Xiaoshan International Airport and various parts of Zhejiang Province, but also connects with the Yangtze River Delta and even other parts of the country, which is of great significance for promoting the high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
