The State key research and Development Program "deep-earth resources exploration and exploitation" , which is led by the Development Research Center of the China Geological Survey, Ministry of Natural Resources, held the launching ceremony of 3,000-meter deep drilling on May 8 in Dandong, Liaoning Province. The 3,000-meter deep drilling project is the first deep hole for drilling non-coal solid minerals in the whole northeast area, and is undertaken by team 103, an enterprise of Liaoning Geology and Mineral Construction Group. Chen Fumao, vice mayor of the Dandong Municipal People's Government, said at the launch ceremony that the project will provide a good opportunity for further deepening cooperation between local gold mining enterprises and scientific research institutions to promote innovative development. Dandong will continue to improve the accuracy of policies, the temperature of government services and the purity of political-business relations, and provide strong support and services for the smooth implementation of all scientific research projects, take pragmatic and effective measures to push scientific research projects to achieve more substantive results, drive Dandong's economic growth and boost the revitalization of the old industrial base in the northeast. Lu Xiaozhao, vice chairman of the China Gold Association and a member of the National Gold Standardization Technical Committee, said that the first deep-hole drilling in the Wulong Gold Mine in Liaoning marks a new start in the "14th five-year plan" for deep-seated gold prospecting. The Ministry of Science and Technology has designated the Wulong gold ore concentration area as a key exploration target area and supported the implementation of the first deep-hole drilling of solid minerals in the northeast region with a depth of 3,000 meters to further verify the favorable metallogenic conditions in the area, it will provide basic support for Liaodong Peninsula to build a 1,000-ton gold mine base and form the resource pattern of "south Jiaodong and North Liaodong" , China's gold producing areas. Chifeng Gold said it would take the survey as an opportunity to upgrade its resources and adhere to the concept of safety, efficiency and environmental protection to build a "garden-style" gold production base. It is reported that since 2016, Chifeng Gold has fully supported the Wulong Gold Mine and actively participated in the state key scientific research project on "the deep process and metallogenic mechanism of the north China Craton metallogenic system" led by the Ministry of Science and technology, participated in the national key research and Development Program "deep-earth resources exploration and exploitation" , which was attended by the China Geological Survey and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Relevant experts said that the significance of the 3,000-meter-deep drilling lies in the important verification of the metallogenic law in the early stage, as well as an important exploration into the depth of 3,000 meters in Liaodong area. It is hoped that through the implementation of this round of scientific and technological projects, the deep prospecting achievements in Liaodong area will be promoted to a higher level. Representatives of the Ministry of Science and technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the China Geological Survey, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the Dandong municipal government, the South University of Science and Technology of China, the Chifeng Golden Wulong mining industry and other governments, scientific research institutions and local enterprises attended the launch ceremony.
